Founder/CEO
Ross Alwala is a mental health activist, humanitarian and social entrepreneur with over five years of experience in advocacy and community engagement. Leveraging a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and a deep passion for community development, Ross addresses mental health challenges through social entrepreneurship. In July 2023, Ross launched a petition to decriminalize suicide in Kenya, a pivotal effort that contributed to the repeal of Section 266 of the constitution in January 2025. This landmark achievement affirmed that mental health is a fundamental right rather than a criminal issue. Recognized for significant contributions to human rights and mental health, Ross received the 2024 Upcoming Human Rights Defender Award from the Defenders Coalition of Kenya and the UNGA Global Youth Ambassador Award for advancing SDG #3 on Good Health and Well-Being. Currently, Ross is pursuing a Master’s in Applied Community Development at Future Generations University, with a vision to transform the mental health sector in Kenya and beyond.

Arnold Ochieng’ is a tech enthusiast and aspiring cybersecurity specialist in his final year pursuing a Bachelor’s in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity at Strathmore University. Passionate about technology and innovation, he strives to bridge the gap between software and hardware to create impactful solutions. He has worked on projects like an inventory system for New Life Home Trust Kisumu, where he volunteered. He is invested in cybersecurity, automation, IoT and Android development for social impact. Arnold participated in the Strathmore Ideas Festival, a platform for innovators to develop ideas around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to mitigate current societal issues, securing third place with a project that automatically shuts off inactive machines in IT labs, reducing energy consumption. He continuously seeks opportunities to advance his expertise. Beyond technology, Arnold enjoys creative writing, earning runner-up honors in the 2018 National Giraffe Centre High School Essay Competition.

Mirell Nazi is a Screenwriter, Film Producer and Video Editor passionate about storytelling and its power to inspire change. With a Diploma in Film and TV Production, she is committed to taking authentic African stories to a global audience while advocating for social change, particularly in mental health. Mirell has contributed to various local short film productions and filmmaking workshops, refining her skills across multiple roles, including writing, directing, and editing. Her debut short film, Inauma, which she wrote and directed, explores the effects of mental illness, demonstrating her commitment to raising awareness for mental health. In 2024, Mirell participated in an intensive screenwriting program through SOME FINE DAY Pix, the Kenya Film Commission, and GIZ, collaborating with #TeamSintofamu to develop a film project. Their dedication led to securing a grant, underscoring the power of hard work, collaboration and storytelling. Through filmmaking, Mirell seeks to educate, entertain and foster a culture of understanding and social impact.

Joan Kamau is a dedicated mental health advocate and counseling professional with a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology. She has experience in gender-based violence (GBV), addiction and general counseling, with a strong focus on supporting youth and women.Passionate about fostering positive change, she has been actively involved in advocacy, volunteering, and community engagement initiatives aimed at promoting mental well-being. Joan believes in the power of collaboration to create inclusive and compassionate communities. With a strong commitment to service, she strives to make mental health support more accessible while challenging societal stigma. Through her work, Joan seeks to empower individuals, raise awareness, and contribute to a world where mental health is prioritized and everyone has access to support.

She thrives on challenges and enjoys exploring new creative avenues, always striving to deliver visually compelling and impactful designs.
